Chapters

Chapters are the subsidiaries of the Alumni Association. The two oldest chapters are Tri-State and DC Metro. There are six active chapters: Tri-State, Metro, North Carolina, Georgia, Midwest and Minnesota. Rhode Island and Texas Chapters are being are being reactivated Chapters fall within the framework of the Association constitutional provision as referenced in the B.W. Harris Alumni Association, USA, Inc. constitution [ ARTICLE II SECTION III ]

In 1995 the Georgia Chapter held the Convention in Atlanta, Ga. The theme was "Making the Difference." The Executive Board of the Association reported to the body that in the midst of the civil war in Liberia a Generator was installed at B.W. Harris School.

In 1996 the NY, NJ, and CT chapter held the convention in Staten Island, NY. The theme was " Reaching Out to Make a Difference."

In 1997 the MN. Chapter held the convention in Minneapolis, MN. Where the theme was " Rebuilding for the Future." The executive board announced that B.W. Harris School was in the process of being renovated with money send by the Alumni Association in the U.S.A.

In 1998 the DC, MD, and VA Chapter held the convention in Washington, D.C. The theme was " We Have Made a Difference." The executive board announced that numerous scholarships had been made to the B.W. Harris School in Liberia, Books and supplies had been shipped and the cafeteria had been renovated. The board also announced that the association continued to subsidize the principal's salary. They also mentioned at this convention that they are in constant contact with the board of Trusties of B.W. Harris School and their designated Alumni in Liberia for financial implementation of the Association projects.

The 7th convention was held in Detroit, Michigan by the Michigan, Ohio Chapter. The theme of this convention was, " Our School, Our Country, and Still We Rise."

The 8th. convention was held in Providence Rhode Island 2000. The Houston Chapter hosted the 2001 convention. Metro chapter will host convention 2002.The NC Chapter is hosting 2004 convention.
