    What's the correct way of using the word “Alumni” to address a male, female, or a group?"

    Alumni is a Latin word which means "alumnus, -a,-um," meaning the masculine, feminine and neuter singular forms. The plural is alumni (masculine) and alumnae (feminine). According to the American Heritage Dictionary, “alumni” is most commonly used for graduates of both sexes.

    Who can join the BWHAA?

    We welcome B.W.Harris Episcopal School’s Alumni, former students, students, faculty and staff, and friends of BWHAA to join. All of these people share one thing in common - a passion for B.W.Harris Episcopal School.

    What do my membership dues go towards?

    Membership dues allow the BWHAA to expand and enhance the programs and services offered by the Association and to the school in Liberia. Membership supports the association's student scholarship program, projects at our Alma Mater, and other alumni events and programs.

    Do you have statistics on the total number of BWHAA-USA alumni?

    Data collected from by past administration is available to anyone desiring information regarding membership. Currently, efforts are being made to create an electronic database which will collect and store information supplied by members through the "Membership" registration page.

    Are membership dues tax deductible?

    Please consult your tax advisor for more information.

    How do I get involved or find alumni events where I live?

    Locate your local chapter or if you do not have a chapter in your state of residence, contact the national body.

    Why is it important to update my information?

    BWHAA attempts to provide exciting information on BWHAA and BWH-Liberia News, alumni events, athletics, and alumni achievements to all alumni and friends of BWHAA. Updating and keeping your information current allows you to receive the Mighty Spartan Newsletter on a regular basis.

    How do I get a replacement membership card?

    If your membership card is lost or stolen, we will provide to a replacement BWHAA-USA membership card, free of charge. Please contact the Membership committee.

    How can I make a lasting impact on BWHAA-USA

    There are many ways alumni and friends can make a lasting impact on BWHAA-USA:
    • Become a volunteer in a chapter or on a committee near you
    • Help expand the association’s student scholarship program.

    May I join the BWH Alumni Association if I'm not a graduate of B.W.Harris High School?

    Yes! The BWHAA-USA is for "alumni and friends" of B.W.Harris High School. "Alumni" includes both B.W.Harris High School’s graduates and those who attended B.W.Harris High School, while "friends" means donors, fans, advocates, parents, and anyone who has an interest in supporting the school.

    How do I update my membership?

    Locate your local chapter and express your desire to update your membership. If you do not have a chapter in your state, please contact National.

    What is the membership fee?

    These are dues that each member pays to his or her chapter or to National on a yearly basis.

    What if I have not been active?

    You can locate your local chapter and be "reactived".

    What if I am in a state with no chapter?

    If you live in a state that has no chapter, you are expected to contact National.


    What happens if my chapter is not active?

    While we encourage every chapter to remain active, any member who lives in a state where the chapter is dormant is required to contact national for further instructions.

    Who do I contact if I have not been active in my chapter?

    Please contact your local chapter president.

    How do I know when chapters meet?

    Contact your local chapter president for a schedule.

    I need a copy of my transcript. Can you send me one?

    Please see the Registrar's page on this Web site.

    I never got my diploma. How can I get it?

    Contact the Diploma the Registrar's Office at XXXXXXXXX. The cost of a diploma replacement is $25.00.

    I want to get in touch with a classmate. Can you give me his address?

    BWHAA-USA prefers to honor the privacy of its constituency; therefore we do not give out any personal information except information given by an alumnus who would like to be contacted.. However, if we have a current address for your friend, we can forward your e-mail or mailing contact and have the person contact you if he or she chooses to do so.

    I am not a writer, can I still join the newsletter team?

    Yes, you can and may! You don't have to be a writer to be on the newsletter team. There are many other functions that you can perform.

    How can I receive a hard copy of the news letter?

    How can I contribute to the newsletter team and not be a member?

    I have no clue about Web design, can I still be a member?

    Yes, you can! Bring ideas, suggestions, etc.


    Will my suggestions be taken even if I am not a member?

    Yes, we certainly entertain positive suggestions, comments, etc.


    Who do we contact when we need something posted on the Web site?

    How long will it take to have postings made to the Web site?

    Depending on the posting, it should take at least two days. Some posting will have to meet the approval of the national chairman.


    How will the team meet to discuss issues pertaining to the projects?

    The Web team meets on a "virtual" basis. That is, it meets via, e-mail, chatroom, message board and teleconferencing.


    How will the Web team obtain information from B.W.Harris AA- Liberia?

    We currently have representatives in Liberia who will supply us with information from the school.
