History of the Tri-State Chapter

The Tri-State chapter is one of the most viable chapters of this association. It consists of 100 members including active and inactive. Citations are mailed and send via email on a monthly basis to encourage a face-to-face meeting and foster relations amongst members. It is also customary for us to present minutes, financial/bank statements and members due paying list at every meeting.

  • The only chapter that has consistently met its full financial obligation to the association.
  • In 2001, furnished the Kindergarten Class with books and other learning materials.
  • In July 2002, provided rice for the cafeteria, teachers, and students. During the civil conflict of July 2003, provided rice to the families of our students.
  • First chapter to establish a scholarship fund. In 2002, awarded 10 candidates the Herbert Grisgby Athletic Scholarships.
  • Consecutive 6 years execution of the Bishop George D. Browne Award/dinnerfundraiser. This fundraiser was established to raise funds and to award proficient individuals for their tremendous contribution to our communities. We are swollen with pride to say that this project/fundraiser was founded by our present National Chairman, Mr. Handel K. C. Diggs in 2001.
  • At convention 2007 our chapter contributed $850.00 to the scholarship fund.
  • Its renowned “Reaching Out” Birthday Project established since 1996 helped maintained cohesion in the chapter. Executed its first Xmas meeting Get-together in 1996.
  • Chapter presidents are expected to and continue to present annual State of The Chapter Address to the membership.

    The past presidents were: Anthony Adighibe, Charles Blake, Handel Diggs,Thelma Collins, Thomas Bernard, Milton Ricks and Pierre King.

As the 1st vice president of the Tri-State Chapter, Miss Padmore is responsible for all programs. Her objective is to reach out not only to the association members but also to encourage other organizations, friends and family to support here chapter's fundraisers.  In so doing, she plans make every effort to acquaint the Spartan families and other supporters of Tri-State's accomplishments and commitment to the children’s education at the B.W. Harris School.

The officers and members of the Tri-State are swollen with pride for the many accomplishments they have achieved and are still determined to take their chapter to the next level.

Miss Padmore has been a recipient of countless awards including the 2001 Dillon H. Brown ,and 2006 Chairman Medal of Honor award. Predominantly, she takes pride in saying that she has been the National Convention Chair from 2005-2008.
